Security Guard
Renaissance Technical Institute, Inc. will offer these two courses to our students at no cost. The training can be completed over several weeks or within a single month. It begins with a general introductory course; upon successful completion, students are issued a training certificate that qualifies them to work as a security guard in retail stores, corporate offices, schools, restaurants, and any business where security personnel are required.
Security Guard Training
8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course
The first required step is the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course. This general introductory course provides a foundational overview of the industry. Upon successful completion, students receive a training certificate that must accompany their security guard registration application when submitted to the Department of State.
16-Hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) Course
Once the application is submitted, the guard has 90 days to complete the second phase of training: the 16-Hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) course. This OJT program is specifically designed to be relevant to the guard's daily duties, the unique requirements of their work site, and the specific needs of the employer.
